This weekend included several cakes, cupcakes and cookies. We not only delivered several wedding cakes but also several cupcake weddings.

Love Sports? Check out this awesome 3D Sculpted Cake! It was a real wow cake!

Gotta love those cupcake weddings!! Here are three we did this weekend using a variety of our mini and standard size cupcakes! The cake on the top is a 6 inch fondant covered cake designed to match the theme of the event!

Mercedes created these pea in the pod cookies and decorated them using fondant and handmade pea in the pod babies. They matched the cupcakes perfectly!

Mercedes created this baby shower cake for baby to be born, Celeste Ines! It was the hit of the party and everyone loved the finished product. The cake was carrot with a cream cheese flling and the baby was made entirely out of sugar and created without the use of any molds. We were delighted to be a part of this beautiful celebration!

Cupcakes have become a sensation in our society and are quickly becoming the center of events. Here are just a few of those cupcake towers we have done! Many do a small cake (6 inch or smaller) on the very top and cupcakes underneath. They make an awesome impression and many choose a variety of flavors that all can enjoy! The Grand National Wedding Cake Competition

The Grand National Wedding Cake Competition is held in Tulsa, Oklahoma every year. The top of the top cake decorators gather together and enter a piece in which they compete for unbelievable prizes. Kerry Vincent (Food Network Challenge Judge) is the show director of the show and considers the competition the Super Bowl of Cakes. Mercedes first entered the show in 2009 and won the Grand Prize of the show with her mermaid wedding cake that is the cover cake of her book Satin Ice Sugar Craft in sponsorship with Satin Fine Foods. Again, Mercedes cake was full of intricate detail and it landed her in the Top 5 this year in Tulsa! This Under the Sea Cake was the cake Mercedes created for the 2009 Grand National Wedding Cake Competition

Mercedes created this mini cake to celebrate Evan's 2nd Birthday! Everything is handmade using no molds. The cake was vanilla flavor with vanilla buttercream and he loved it. Here is a picture that was sent to us that shows him blowing out the candles!

From Wedding to Baby Shower

Three years ago Mercedes created this beautiful wedding cake for who is now Jeremy and Crystal Tomlinson. It included Mercedes signature fold on the bottom tier and is surrounded by angels around the cake.

Three years later, the baby is on the way and here is the baby shower cake that was created with the

theme of Cows. You will sure go Moo Moo over this cake!

Mercedes imagination soared when she was asked to create a baby shower cake with an airplane theme. Everything is handmade including the baby sleeping in the plane. Notice the different elements surrounding the cake including trees, mountains, sheep and a smiling sun.

Spotlight on Chef Alex

When you visit our bakery in Altamonte it is a necessity to say hello to Chef Alex. He is the lead baker at the bakery and is always willing to stop and say hello. He is also responsible for the tempting and amazingly delicious sweets that are displayed in our bakery cases. Once an architect, Chef Alex always had a passion for baking.

Now Chef Alex is enjoying yet another endeavor. He is using his talents to bless others and teach classes. Recently, he had the opportunity to teach a class in Hong Kong along his wife where he taught the art of gourmet cakes and other sweets. In just a few weeks, Chef Alex will be teaching a very first of breads, pastry and dessert classes at the bakery. For more information or to register please give the bakery a call at 407-830-9006. Cupcakes have made a big mark in the bakery industry in the last five years. Shows like Cupcake Wars and DC Cupcakes have inspired cupcake bakeries to pop up all over the United States. At Bake Me A Cake, Chef Alex is now creating cupcakes daily. Grand Marnier, Chocolate Ganache, Strawberry and Peanut Butter cupcakes are daily. Our customers love the mini cupcakes because the variety of flavors available. Cupcakes are not something new for Mercedes. She has created cupcakes in every shape, size and theme. Fondant has allowed her to use her art and love of nature to create epic cupcakes.
